Sometimes youth knock at our door. Just as often, we go out and find them. We seek to prevent homelessness at its root, by reaching at-risk youth through multiple points of contact: in the communities where they live, work, study, worship, and socialize. By working closely with schools, local police, and social and religious institutions, we better understand the needs of youth who are homeless. These relationships also raise community awareness of the symptoms of and solutions to youth homelessness.
We work hard to prevent homelessness before it happens by reaching youth who have been in trouble with the law. Our Ahead of the Curve program teaches young people who may be headed for the streets how to develop positive relationships, search for and hold a job, and master daily living.
Through SCOPe (Street and Community Outreach Program), we offer support to youth ages 12 to 18 who are homeless. Immediate survival needs are the first priority. We offer to help reunify them with their families or secure other safe housing opportunities for them.
