Belfort House Ribbon Cutting

TLP staff and youth prepare food in the kitchen of Belfort House for the reception.

On Monday, September 20th, 2010, over 100 of TLP’s supporters, community partners, board members, and elected officials gathered at Belfort House to cut ribbon on our new facility. Guests were led on tours of the space by TLP youth, listened to presentations by agency leadership, and enjoyed refreshments in the community space of Belfort House.

We were thrilled to have the opportunity to formally celebrate the completion of our new home, which not only increased our capacity to serve youth who are homeless, but is modern, efficient, and durable. Our pro bono architecture firm, Hartshorne Plunkard Architecture, even won an award for Belfort House from the Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute for its unique design.

Many thanks to all of our guests for supporting Teen Living Programs on such a special day, especially: Senator Mattie Hunter, State Representative Kenneth Dunkin, Congressman Bobby Rush, Alderman Pat Dowell, and Mary Ellen Caron, Commissioner for Chicago’s Department of Family and Support Services.
